Abstract

This paper analyzes the competitiveness evolution of the mains Chilean fishing industry products in the period 2008 and 2019. For this purpose, we first characterize the export and import market of the most relevant Chilean product in this sector. Then, using the Revealed Comparative Advantage Index we estimate the Chilean and its competitors’ competitiveness level, considering the advantages and/or disadvantages of exports and imports of Chile with respect to the rest of the world. The 8 products with the highest export performance are analyzed, concluding that Chile has comparative advantages in 5 of them.
