Abstract

Despite of Chile actually introducing self-control systems to assess and feed back to educational process, such as SIMCE and accreditation, these have not been exempt of criticism and requirement for more adjustment to the educational reality and greater control and transparency. This is why the aim of this study is to analyze and compare the current chilean educational system with other successful international educational systems, considering aspects such as quality, management and social impact. This research is divided into three sections, first we start with an analysis of the primary and secondary educational system in Chile, secondly it compares the quality assurances and self-control of these systems in comparison with the successful international systems and finally, an evaluation of the the impact of the new chilean educational proposal and its management is presented. For the analysis, studies and reports were collected; also municipalities and governmental departments were visited. The results indicate that Chile needs to invest more public resources on education than other countries, improving monitoring and control systems of institutions that provide educational services and develop an educational system more adjusted to its social reality, where methodologies must be applied methodologies that encourage entrepreneurship and innovation to achieve cultural change that may affect social segregation and discrimination in the workplace.
