Abstract

The objective of this study is to explore the variables that explain social presence and user’s satisfaction with mobile instant messaging in Chile. The model proposed by Ogara and Prybutok (2014) was adapted and validated in a sam- ple of 123 university students. An online questionnaire was used as a method of data collection and the analysis was performed using structural equation modelling. The results indicate that the model is partially validated, highlighting that the satisfaction of mobile messaging users is explained, in order of importance, by richness of application, social influence, and user experience. The main contribution of this study is the temporal and geographical update of the phenomenon.
