Abstract

This study combines the theory of the five personality traits with the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology to examine the role that these traits play in the intention to use academic management systems. Data were collected from 108 users from two universities and then analyzed with structural equation modeling tools. The results indicate that the proportion of the variance of the intention to use academic management systems is predicted by 62 % by the variables of the technology acceptance model, and additionally, they reveal that three of the five traits have an effect on the variables of this model, standing out among them the agreeableness. The conclusions of the study suggest that although the effects of personality traits on technology acceptance models vary according to the technology analyzed, discovering these effects in a particular technology can help the implementation by identifying key users in the early stages of the process.
