Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the acculturation process in the implementation of mergers in Chile. The central question guiding this research is: “what extent acculturation affects the success of a merger in Chilean companies?”. The central hypothesis of this study is “acculturation explains much of the success in the process of mergers of companies.” This study measures the impact of acculturation on the success of the merger or acquisition of companies in Chile. In the first view, discuss a wide range of studies on the subject in the last 30 years and identifies a series of organizational-level factors that explain the success of mergers. The research method follows the guidelines of a case study in which data is collected via a survey designed and implemented carefully to a group of companies that have had the experience of the merger. The identification and determination of the sample follows the recommendation of the method for convenience. The data collected are analyzed using descriptive statistical tools. The results indicate that the process of acculturation influences the success of companies to a greater or lesser extent depending on the nature of the organization, which is discussed in greater detail in the conclusions of this study.
